I have arrived in Rome, Italy for a several month painting excursion and hopefully some “la dolce vita!”

I’ll be a participant and artist at Plein Air Mt Lebanon, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. Prize money and a show, so wish me luck!

I’ll be participating in the Camden falls Plein Air Wet Paint Auction to benefit the Camden Windjammer Festival. Sponsored by the Camden Falls Gallery.

During the festival, the fleet gathers in picturesque Camden Harbor for festivities reminiscent of the days when hundreds of coastal schooners lined the waterfront. Events include a parade of sail, boatbuilding and nautical exhibitions, live music, dancing, and fireworks – any or all of which may serve as inspiration for the dozens of artists who will gather to paint in and around the harbor on Friday, August 31 and Saturday, September 1.”

I’ll have four paintings for sale at the Finnegan’s Farm Reunion Show at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. This is a show for students at the Lyme Academy that stayed at the Weekend house of Patti and Tom O’Shauganassy during our schooling. Should be fun!

I participated in a plein air paintout in New London, Ct. July 7 and 8th.This was my first plein air event andI even got a prize (3rd place). I have a few Paintings up at the Gallery at Firehouse Square. I was awarded third Prize. and I was thrilled for my first paint-out competition.

I have moved to Portland, Maine. What drew me here is the vibrant arts scene and Portland’s wonderful juxtaposition between the big urban centers of Boston and NYC and so much beautiful nature.

I am in Topeka, Kansas working on the restoration of some murals in the Kansas State Capital Building. With Evergreen Architectural Arts.

This is an opening at the Gallery in Firehouse Square in New London, Connecticut. It is a reunion exhibition titled “John Stobart Fellowship Award Winners: 1989-2011.” Featuring works by over 17 of the Fellowship award winners, this exhibition will open with a reception at the gallery on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 5-10pm. In attendance on this evening will be Mr. Stobart himself.
This is an exhibit for winners of the Stobart Fellowship, which I generously received in 1995. John Stobart is a noted marine painter. I sent 3 paintings, but I will not be able to attend.

I am in Paducah, Kentucky at St. Francis De sales Church, working on restoring a mural and recreating stenciling and trompe l’oiel decorations. For Historic Surfaces.
March 2011
I will be going to Nantucket Island in Massachusetts to help recreate old Tromp l’oiel decorations at the Old South Church. With Evergreen Architectural Arts. A Unitarian Church, which was the faith I was raised in.

I have returned from my SE Asian trip. I was in Thailand,Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. I did many small oil sketches and had a wonderful and educational trip. To see the details and paintings click here.

I will be taking a four month trip to Indochina starting January 7th. I will be exploring and painting and perhaps improve my sun tan.

I am participating in the artprize competition in Grand Rapids,MI, which is an exhibit/competition in the center of Grand Rapids at about 100 venues featuring over 1250 artists. I am exhibiting a large figure painted on wood and adhered to the outside of a building. My subject is Adrian Booth (a.k.a Lorna Gray) , a golden age movie actress who grew up in Grand Rapids. My venue is the B.O.B.

I am working on my Public Transpoortation themed mural for the Westown neighborhood in Chicago. It is on Chicago Ave. about 1 block west of Halstead. I hope to be finished about the 22nd of August. They were looking for street scenes from their area to be painted underneath a Union-Pacific train bridge. My theme is a “Utopian vision of an alternative future” where the area has developed into a green culture. Sponsored by the West-town Chamber of Commerce. In October I will be exhibiting at the Around the Coyote Arts Festival In Chicago. I was selected as a Curators Choice which is a nice honor and should get me a little more attention.

Exhibit: Thursday, June 12, 2008, 5 – 7 pm at the University Club of Chicago (76 E Monroe St
Chicago, IL (312) 726-2840 at the corner of Monroe and Michigan) . I’ll have about 20 mostly new works for your viewing pleasure. The exhibit is on the 12th floor in the dining room with a lovely terrace and a beautiful view over Grant park and the Art institute. There is a DRESS CODE: NO JEANS! Business Casual to receive entry to the building.
