I did this painting on Via Gulia, in the central historic district of Rome. It’s very nearby the Piazza Farnese and the Campo De Fiore. While I was doing it, a very well dressed woman (I like to think she was a countess) came by and demanded to know why I was not painting a fountain just to my right. She obviously thought that was a more appropriate subject in Rome then the French Consulate!
This was a great day for me because while I was painting some fellow sketchers walked by and invited me to come to a group sketching session with the Sketchcrawl Roma group, where I met a whole load of wonderful Rome based artists!
