In May 2018, I went, for the second time, to WetPaint Tamworth in Tamworth,NH. This is a lovely plein air painting event organized by the Tamworth Visitors Council. The area is just south-west of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, and centered around Lake and Mount Chocurua.

The Preserve at Chocurua was the lovely venue that hosted all the artists. It’s a hotel in a series of buildings, some old, some new. It’s mostly used as a wedding venue, where happy couples have the ceremony, the reception, and as well it has a multitude of rooms and cottages to house guests. If I was getting married I would definitely wish for a place like this!

Normally I bring along plenty of pre-cooked provisions so I don’t have to worry about anything except painting during these kinds of events. But Mary Phelps, the energetic proprietors of the preserve, ruined my well laid plans by providing us with breakfast goodies, soup, and even a few dinners. So I ended up barely touching my supplies.

There were about 20 or 25 artists participating in the fun, and many beautiful plein air works were produced.

It was a successful event for me. I sold several paintings and was honored to receive the peoples/artist choice award, for one of my nocturnes. This is decided by the votes of everyone participating in or viewing the show. Definitely the best award to get!

One of the best locations at the event was the Remick Country Doctor Farm and Museum. But the whole area is extraordinarily beautiful. I definitely hope to spend more time painting in that area in the near future.

These are lovely, Stephen. We are pleased you were able to return for Wet Paint Tamworth 2018 and to read you that it was a successful event for you. Our congratulations on receiving the peoples/artist choice award!
Once again, it was an honor to be a host site for Wet Paint Tamworth and a sincere thrill to see the grounds through the eyes of the gathered artists. We hope you are able to return next year.
All the best from Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm and Tamworth Village!
Thank you, Dawne! I had a great time, and look forward to seeing you all again in the future.
