Castine, Maine Landscape Painting Festival

Another wonderful week in Castine, Maine! I have done his event five times and always had a great time. A terrific group of hardworking and friendly people. Unfortunately, the Castine Arts Association has indefinitely suspended the event (This decision predates the Covid-19 epidemic). This particular event was actually in 2018, so here are some long overdue images from that fun week.

Painting on Main St. in Castine. It was a hot day and I had to hide from the sun under an umbrella.
Trinitarian Congregational Parish, Castine, 10 x 11″ or 25 x 28 cm., oil. (sold)
A nocturnal view from the Maine Maritime Academy. I think this is Nautilus Island. 9 x 10″or 22 x 25 cm.,oil

Castine is a terrific Place. The Maine Maritime Academy is there, which is just one of a handful of universities that focus on training maritime professionals. It’s a charming, little visited place on the Blue Hill peninsula which I think is one of the best places in Maine. And in just a half-hour drive you find yourself in Stonington, perhaps the most spectacularly located small town in Maine.
