I did this landscape painting while standing on the Corso di Rinacimento (Street of the Renaissance) during a late afternoon. There was a busy sweet shop next to me, and before I left I bought some pretty dolci for breakfast! One of the proprietors came out and told me that he could smell the life from my painting(or maybe that I smelled bad:))
The dome in the background is Sant’Andrea della Valle, a basilica church. The basilica is the general seat for the religious order of the Theatines. A gift of Costanza Piccolomini D’Aragona, Duchess of Amalfi, to the order, this church is a masterpiece of Carlo Maderno and contains several paintings by Domenichino.
