These columns are just to the right of the Theatre of Marcellus ( Teatro di Marcello) which is an ancient open-air theatre in Rome, Italy, built in the closing years of the Roman Republic. At the theatre, locals and visitors alike were able to watch performances of drama and song. It was completed in 13 BC and formally inaugurated in 12 BC by Augustus. In front of the columns was the ancient fish market, located here because the Tiber river is only a short distance away. Lots of Italian schoolchildren shared my day here!
