I am featured in the March 2018 issue of Plein Air magazine. Not only that, but they used one of my paintings on the cover. Of course I was very pleased about this!
This article came about because the editor of the magazine at the time, Steven Doherty, had seen me posting a series of progression photos of some apple paintings that I was working on locally, here in the mid coast of Maine. They were aware of me because about five years ago I had submitted an article about a long painting trip I took to Italy, which was published in their digital edition. You can see that here.
He wrote a very flattering article, almost a bit embarrassing, but I’m not complaining!
Originally, the intention was to really focus on the progression of the apple paintings, but because I was only thinking of posting those on Instagram or Facebook, I just used my phone to take photos, and the quality was not high enough for large print images.
There were a couple minor mistakes, most notably that my first name was misspelled on the cover, one or two paintings that were listed the wrong size, and a couple things in the article that I thought were not perfectly accurate. I can’t complain about that, though, I missed them when he showed me the draft.
Also, here is a blog post Plein Air Magazine did about the article.
And finally, below I posted some scans of the article.
